The Boo Radley of Southside Virginia,
Johnny periodically emerges in comedy clubs and has been dubbed, "The Creepiest
Man In Comedy".
A regular
headliner at Richmond's 955 Club venues, he's featured in clubs from New York
to Florida. He's been booked at Comedy Cabana in Myrtle Beach and Raleigh's
Goodnight's Comedy Club. Recently he has become the host of The Cave's (Chapel
Hill, NC) two monthly comedy nights.
Johnny’s
long career as a singer/songwriter
includes comedy credits that predate his standup endeavors. In 1988
his acerbic PG County won a TV spot on DC’s legendary campfest,
The Arch Campbell Show (following Lilly Tomlin!).
Pizza Girl received national airplay on Dr. Demento,
and Wilding Christmas was included on the regional collection
All I Want For Christmas.
Johnny's
twisted takes on his twisted life have earned him a reputation as a "comic's
comic". But he does well with all audiences, even those half his age! Original,
clean, and sometimes disturbing; the prolific Mr. Cook never fails to surprise
and entertain.
